So much has happened for Claire Barker since she first sprung on the local scene some 8 years ago. Appearing first on the Brickmakers stage during the ‘Lee Vasey’ ‘ELVIS’ sessions back in 2005 starting out as backing vocalist on these hugely successful nights. Even then it was evident that she was going to be a formidable force within the Norwich music community. From the first note Claire commanded attention, and boy did she get it. Rising from strength to strength and becoming one of the strongest, soulful voices in the city, she quickly became one of the main singers in the Lee Vasey Band. It was here she remained until 2011 when she flew the ‘Lee Vasey’ nest and formed the ‘Claire Barker Band’. Together with co- vocalist Josie Tate (previously with Emma Hall & Tendahooks) and a whole host of top local musicians , including Simon Dring (Drums) , Andy Doyle & Pete Laurence-Couzens (Bass). Hammond king Andy Cooper (keys) and John McSkimming (Guitar), Claire Barker is now at the top of her game as one of the most sought after vocalists/bands for functions and venues across the city. Her set is refreshing, diverse and unique, it covers everything from disco to pop and guarantees to fill the dance floor every time. 2013 is definitely a fantastic year for the Claire Barker Band and this is only the beginning.
